Favorite Things: Birdwell Beach Britches

This is the second installment of our Favorite Things series, our holiday gift guide in which each week someone will share one of their favorite things and why they love it. We hope this will help give you some ideas for gifting this season! This week's post comes to you from Scott:

My name is Scott Ouderkirk and I live in the 1000 Islands area of New York, next to the St Lawrence River and the border of Canada. We struggle with harsh weather conditions for a good portion of the year, but once May comes, and the weather warms, I spend the next few months in shorts. On the boat, working or playing, shorts are the order of the day. Most of the shorts that I have owned in my life have been a disappointment or compromise, that is until last spring when I discovered Birdwell Beach Britches.

I love these shorts! I am usually reluctant to spend much on clothes, ok, I’m cheap; and these shorts are not cheap, but they are worth every penny. I have two custom pairs and one limited edition. There are lots of options to choose when ordering. I did find that their sizing required me to order two sizes up from my normal waist size. I put a lot of miles on Birdwells this summer and can honestly say that the shorts show no signs of wear, they are tough! They dry quickly after a swim and are comfortable. The weather here has now turned to fall and I am already missing my Birdwells, but I am already cruising their website to figure out what I’ll be getting for next summer.

Check out our Glass Goat YouTube channel for another look at these shorts and this summer on the river.
